The Decentralization Mission is an institutional initiative of the DNPIt seeks to include proposals and recommendations from multiple actors with the purpose of making proposals that will allow for ordering and defining the distribution of competencies and sources of financing between the Nation and the territorial entities.
This project arose as a response to the current erosion of decentralization in the country. Although the decentralization process has had positive social impacts and has improved political participation, there are great challenges in terms of economic and local development and in the adequate management of the environment and population and ethnic diversity.
Rimisp together with Urbanproare supporting the Decentralization Mission in the development of studies and research leading to a better institutional arrangement for the allocation of competencies between levels of government, as well as the identification of sources of funding. This initiative is being carried out in conjunction with the National Planning Department (DNP), the Decentralization Mission and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).UNDP) from 2022 to the present.
