Rimisp to participate in Expo Chile Agrícola 2023

Next Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd of August, Rimisp will participate in the Expo Chile Agrícola, where besides having a stand open to the public, they will give two free talks on the projects: “Networks for Agri-Food Transformationand “Siembra Desarrollo, smallholder agriculture and food resilient to COVID 19”.

Expo Chile Agrícola is the largest training event in Chile, organized by the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture. Ministry of Agriculture and its services, which through lectures and seminars covers various topics related to the forestry and agriculture sector. There will be two days of fair from the Wholesale Market Lo Valledor, and for all of Chile through its online platform.

The first lecture: “Networks for Agrifood Transformation, an action-research project in three rural territories in Latin America”, will be held on the following day Tuesday, August 21st at 11:00 a.m. online The talk will focus on the action-research project “Networks for Agrifood Transformation”, which aims to support the sustainable transformation of agrifood systems in three rural territories in Mexico, Guatemala and Bolivia, contributing to the rescue and enhancement of agrifood practices developed by indigenous and peasant communities.

The second lecture, ”Impacts on family farming in Latin America (2020-2023): From Covid-19 to rising food prices”, will be held in person on Wednesday, August 22 at 15:00 hrs. and will be given by Rodrigo Yáñez Rojas, Director Chile Office of Rimisp – Latin American Center for Rural Development. The talk will present the results of the research and advocacy project “Siembra Desarrollo, pequeña agricultura y alimentación resilientes al COVID 19” that focused on the agri-food systems of Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile, to understand the impacts of the coronavirus and inflation on peasant family agriculture and food security in urban rural territories in Latin America.
