The research-action project “Networks for Agrifood Transformation” aims to support the sustainable transformation of agrifood systems in three rural territories in Mexico, Guatemala and Bolivia, contributing to the rescue and enhancement of agrifood practices that have been developed by indigenous and peasant communities in various territories of Latin America.
The initiative, supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada, aims to accompany the transition of food systems towards sustainable agroecological models by applying a systemic approach that encompasses multiple territorial dynamics that condition productive practices, agricultural policies, the connection of territories with intermediate cities, gender systems, as well as the participation and recognition of the indigenous population, among other elements.
The main objective of the project is that small-scale farmers from indigenous communities, mainly women and youth in three Latin American territories, lead the transformation of food systems towards more equitable, resilient and healthy systems, promoting the adoption and scaling up of social, technological and institutional innovations.
