Rimisp 2025: 39 years transforming rural Latin America

Rimisp – Latin American Center for Rural Development celebrated 39 years of existence. This anniversary is not just a number; it is a reflection of almost four decades of research and advocacy dedicated to understanding and transforming rurality in our region.

The Annual Report 2025 captures a year of intense territorial deployment, knowledge generation and strengthening of strategic alliances. During 2025, our teams conducted fieldwork in eight Latin American countries: Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Chile. In addition, our work was extended to countries such as Kenya and India, collaborating with international organizations such as IDRC, FAO, ECLAC, OECD and the Gates Foundation.

Among the projects highlighted are:

APPLIED RESEARCH

The Rimisp Library grew significantly during 2025, highlighting the publication of:

  • Book “Indigenous Food Culture”: Publication in Spanish, English and French, which brings together the knowledge of ten peoples of the Americas.
  • 4 academic papers: Including a study on food insecurity and multidimensional poverty published in the journal Social Science and Medicine.
  • 11 working documents and 13 policy briefs: Aimed at influencing public policies in the region.
