Annual Report 2024: Contributing to the understanding of Latin America and its territory diversity

02/01/2025

The document provides an overview of Rimisp’s work during the year. It is divided into sections: projects, activities, publications, press and digital media management, donors and Rimisp’s network of partners.

In 2024, Rimisp developed regional projects in each of its thematic areas. In agro-food systems and climate change theme, we analysed 10 successful experiences of agroecological transitions in 8 countries in the region, and continued work with a network of researchers in several countries in Africa and the Odisha region of India, analysing the links between farmers and businesses of different sizes to build an inclusive transformation of agro-food systems in these regions.

Linked to inclusive territories, we accompanied the development of a working agenda from the indigenous peoples of the Americas with perspectives and actions to address the transformations of food systems, with the participation of representatives from Alaska to the Peruvian Amazon.

In the area of socio-territorial conflicts, a series of papers were published that bring together conclusions and recommendations from research on illicit crops in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. These results were presented at an international meeting on illicit crops at global level held in Thailand at the end of the year.

Finally, on the subject of institutional development and governance, Rimisp is leading a study analysing and systematising successful experiences of productive development ecosystems in agro-industries between Chile and Ecuador.

Each of these subjects is complemented by projects at national level, which allows us to build a reading of the transformations of rurality at regional level. As an independent and autonomous organisation, we are proud to be able to continue contributing to the understanding of Latin America and its territory diversity.
