Formulation of the Extreme Zones Development Plan for Rapa Nui

About the project

The objective of this project is to provide technical, logistical and methodological support to the Regional Government of Valparaíso in the preparation of the Extreme Zones Development Plan (PDZE) for Rapa Nui (Chile) and its respective Investment Portfolio. The project is financed by the Regional Development Subsecretariat (SUBDERE).

The Plan formulation process includes:
1. Preparation of a diagnostic study of the territory.
2. Formulating strategic guidelines for the Plan.
3. Generating a portfolio of initiatives relevant to the territory and consistent with the strategic guidelines.
4. Defining management and governance mechanisms for the Plan.
5. Implementing a strategy for citizen participation.

The PDZE is an instrument for orientation and public investment in areas considered extreme, i.e. those with a peripheral geographic condition and difficulties of accessibility to public institutions, basic services and other conditions required for development, together with higher living costs. This instrument seeks to promote and enhance development and equity in these territories, through a strategic plan and a portfolio of investment projects with a 10-year plan, which are evaluated by the National Investment System with a particular methodology and that may have additional resources to those of the sectors and the Regional Government.
